"Palabras (im)prescindibles"

Lázaro Alfonso Díaz Cala
2021

Spanish version.

Poetry

Sparrows / the warmth of dawn / and the fury of the waters / present in every nightmare or insomnia; / As the wind drags the leaves / turned into a whip and a seagull / incense and photography / pillow and spectrum. / You will not escape to my nights / to my hand when walking / to my verses / to the inescapable mania / to remember you and adore you / every day / for every way / in every word / in every concept / in the aroma and smoke of each coffee.

Palabras (im)prescindibles. Words that we do not know whether to shout, whisper or shut up. Hallucinations or nightmares that we try to grasp or remove definitively from our routine and senses. The loss or distance of parents, children, love ones, friends, the self-examinations to which we inevitably submit ourselves… provoke these essential verses, although perhaps it would be more pleasant to do without them. But the poet - and the human being in general - does not decide when or what he dreams, when or with whom he falls in love, who and how much he misses, what and when he is silent, shouts or writes, so invoking the writing itself he assures : "When there is no light / nor horizon / nor yesterday / there will be poetry".
